Details
The willow grows along the waterways of the Kashmir Valley, and the Keani Keam tradition, wicker-weaving from this willow, has shaped it into baskets and vessels for generations. Ganderbal artisans work each strand over and under in a rhythm that is faster than it looks and slower than any machine.
This planter is woven by hand from willow harvested in the Kashmir Valley, using the Keani Keam wicker tradition practiced by artisans in the Ganderbal region. The weave is tight and structural, it holds its shape, does not collapse under the weight of a pot, and develops a slight mellowing of the natural brown over time.
Set a trailing plant inside and it reads as effortless. Set it empty on a shelf and it holds its own. It is large enough to be a statement piece but natural enough not to fight with anything already in the room.
